- File consists of research material loaned to the illustrator of the novel; includes maps and articles with images of camels and of the landscape of Cariboo country. Many items have Christie Harris's holograph annotations; all include Christie Harris's attached holograph annotation "Forbidden Frontier - loaned to the illustrator who didn't use them, obviously, or there'd have been a correct map."
- Includes repository photocopy of letter (1967 December 1), from Jean E. Karl, Editor of Children's Books, Atheneum, returning the illustration material. File also includes proposed quotations for the frontispiece of the novel from Albert Camus' The Rebel.
