History
During the Second World War Doug Renton was a flight lieutenant in the 405 Squadron, Pathfinder Force, the first RCAF bomber squadron to be formed in England. The squadron assisted in anti-submarine patrols during the North African invasion in 1942. In 1943 it returned to RAF Bomber Command, and began its "pathfinder" work of leading bomber squadrons to targets in Germany by dropping flares. This work continued into 1943. Doug and his wife, Jean E., lived in Calgary, Alberta as early as 1956, and had at least one child, William Douglas. Doug (senior) worked in construction and mechanics, was manager of Kidco Holdings from ca. 1983-1986, and retired in ca. 1991. He married Sally J. ca. 1983.
