        History

        James Emmett Reilly, 1878-1930, was born in Compton, Quebec, the son of William and Phoebe Reilly. James A. Reilly, later a mayor of Calgary, Alberta was his uncle. James E. came to Calgary in 1895 to work with his uncle in the hotel business. He married Dolly Stirrett in 1901 and in 1915 moved to Edmonton as secretary of the Alberta Public Utilities Board. He was active in the Liberal Party. He and his wife had one daughter, Phoebe Maude (Wood).
