History
Victor Jammona Ramraj was born in Guyana, October 24, 1941. He attended St. Stanislaus College in Georgetown, Guyana and later received his Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) from University College of the West Indies (1964) and his Master of Arts and PhD from the University of New Brunswick (1968, [1975]). Ramraj wrote his dissertation on Mordecai Richler and the satirical tradition in the Canadian novel.
Ramraj became a professor of English at the University of Calgary in 1970. His field of expertise was postcolonial studies and Canadian literature with research in satire, comedy, humour, and International English literature. He gave over 50 talks and lectures world-wide.
Ramraj died on August 25, 2014.
