Biographical history
Ralph Arnold, 1875-1961, was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, USA and educated in geology in California. He worked for the USA Geological Society until 1909 when he formed a large consulting practice. He invested in oil fields throughout the world including western Canada. Among the firms he was involved in were the Armstrong Syndicate, BC Oil and Development Co., California and Canada Oil Co., Canadian Oil Syndicate, Columbia Oils Ltd., Dally Coal and Oil Syndicate, London Ribstone Petroleum Ltd., Los Angeles Syndicate, Mount Royal Oil Co., Spartan Oil Co., United Canada Petroleum Company, United Dominion Petroleum Co., United Western Petroleum Co. and Wyoming-Canadian Oil Co.
