Scope and content

Series consists of architectural drawings, project files, and photographs that document the work of John Andrews Architects between 1962 and 1974. There are over 4000 architectural drawings and almost 10 linear meters of textual files that document the design and construction of over 50 of John Andrews's projects in Canada, the United States, and Australia. The drawings include sketches, presentation drawings, preliminary plans, design development, and sets of final construction drawings. The project files contain correspondence, reports, notes, specifications, contracts, meeting minutes, photographs, and additional drawings that document the development of the projects. There are over 2000 photographs that are interspersed throughout the project files and in a separate subseries of slides. Among the notable projects documented in the series are Scarborough College, University of Guelph Student Housing, Miami Ship Terminal, University of Western Weldon Library, Sarah Lawrence College Library, Harvard University George Gund Hall, and the Cameron Offices in the Belconnen Town Centre, Australia. The series has been divided into three subseries: 1. Drawings; 2. Files; 3. Photographs.
