        Kenneth H. Prior, 1899-? , was born in Hextable, Kent, England, and his family emigrated to Picton, Ontario in 1913. He studied at Toronto Bible College, Ontario Agricultural College, and the University of Alberta, where he graduated with a degree in Agriculture. While still a student, he served as a Presbyterian missionary in southern Saskatchewan, the North Thompson Valley of British Columbia, and the Peace River district of Alberta. On October 8, 1926 he married Pearl Mahaffey, 1894-? , a nurse employed at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton. On the same day, Kenneth was ordained as a United Church minister, and the couple embarked on a career as missionaries in Africa. They served in Angola, 1925-1938, and Nigeria, 1938-1956, contributing to economic development, education, and health care. From 1956 to 1966 Kenneth served the United Church of Canada as Field Secretary to the Board of World Mission.
