History
Monte Keene Pishny-Floyd was born in Oklahoma City in 1941. He began composing at the age of six and played trombone as a student. Pishny-Floyd attended Oklahoma City University for his Bachelor and Master of Music, and later graduated in 1972 with his PhD from the Eastman School of Music (ESM) in Rochester, New York.
Pishny-Floyd taught at St. Mary's College in South Bend, Indiana 1968-1971 before moving to Canada where he taught composition, theory, music literature, and piano at the University of Saskatchewan. He married Annette Rahm (Billie), a pianist who frequently accompanied him at musical events.
Pishny-Floyd died in Saskatoon in October, 2025.
