        History

The Petroleum Resources Communication Foundation, based in Calgary, Alberta, was founded in 1975 as a non-profit organization to create awareness and understanding of how the Canadian petroleum industry operated. The Foundation provided information on virtually all aspects of the industry to the general public, students, educators, employees of petroleum companies and related industries, government representatives and the media. They identified important industry issues in consultation with members of the petroleum industry, industry associations, governments and community members and developed publications and media presentations to heighten awareness. The name was later changed to Petroleum Communication Foundation. On December 31, 2002 the PCF became part of the new Canadian Centre for Energy Information.
