Name of creator
The Petrolettes were first organized in 1966 as a branch of the Oil Service Charitable Organization (OSCO) based in Edmonton, Alberta. Members of this service organization were primarily the wives of men employed in the petroleum industry. They decided to incorporate independently under the new name in 1970. Their major activity was to raise funds through teas, bazaars and corporate donations to support the handicapped in Calgary, Alberta.
