Biographical history

Peter Burns was possibly an immigrant from Scotland. He lived in Calgary, Alberta from at least the 1930s to the 1950s, and was a painter in the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) freight car shop. He lived in Edmonton in the 1980s and 1990s.

The fonds consists of home movie footage of the 1950 Calgary Stampede parade and Calgary scenes (1947-1954); a certificate commending Peter Burns for the safety record of his staff at the CPR shops; Calgary Transit bus passes (1948-1949); trans-Atlantic passenger ship brochures; advertiques; and collected British Second World War propaganda pamphlets.
