Biographical history
Perren Earle Baker, 1877-1974, was born in Blenheim, Ontario and educated at McMaster University and Chicago University. In 1905 he married Blanche Randall and they had three children, Albert T., 1907-1997, Elizabeth (Mather), 1912-1989, and Andrew. The family moved to Alberta in 1910 and farmed near Nemiskam. His wife died in 1916 and in 1920 he married Edna A. Brown, 1889-1969, a journalist and member of the Canadian Women's Press Club. In 1921 he was elected the United Farmers of Alberta Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Medicine Hat. He served as Minister of Education in the UFA government until 1935, then returned to farming. He later retired to Vancouver. For further information see L. J.
