History
James Parsons, 1849-1928, was born in Pitton on Farley, Wiltshire, England. About 1869, he began writing for local newspapers. In 1886, he emigrated to Alberta and homesteaded in the Nose Creek district near Calgary. He was instrumental in the founding of the Nose Creek School District and served as secretary-treasurer for many years. He and his wife, Phillida Whitlock, 1845-1926, were married in 1882 and adopted a son, Edward, 1890- .
