Biographical history
John Francis "Paddy" Ryan, 1896-[after 1978], was born in LeRoy, Minnesota, USA. In 1910 the family moved to Ismay, Montana, and in 1916 Paddy competed in his first rodeo. He was the American all-round cowboy at the Calgary Stampede in Calgary, Alberta in 1927, 1928 and 1930. He travelled the rodeo circuit with his friend, Bob Askin, another rodeo star. He subsequently ranched in Wyoming before retiring to Arizona. He was inducted into the Rodeo Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City in 1978.
