Biographical history

Otto Meier was born in Germany and fought for the German Army during WWI as a member of the infantry. After the war, Meier married and emigrated to Canada in 1924. He and his wife eventually settled in the area of Gull Lake, Saskatchewan.

Archival history

Military photos were sent by Meier to his sister Alvina Grubel who died in 1970. Photos were then given to donor's father, then to donor.

Scope and content

Fonds consists of photographs created or collected by Otto Meier or members of his family. 10 of the images pertain to the German experience of WWI, the remainder pertain to Meier's family and friends post WWI.
