Biographical history
Nick Stauss, 1910-, was born in Ukraine and in 1937 was married in Riga, Latvia. He was trained as an engineer but after five years of work he spent five years in a refugee camp in Germany. In 1950 Joey Smallwood visited his camp and offered jobs building the Trans-Canada Highway in Newfoundland. Strauss spent until 1959 in Newfoundland, then moved to Calgary, Alberta. He was a collector of fine china.
