History
John Niblock, 1849-1914, was born in Scarborough County, Ontario, and joined the Grand Trunk Railway in 1870. In 1880 he joined the Canadian Pacific Railway and in 1883 became divisional superintendent, first at Port Arthur, Ontario, 1883-1887, Medicine Hat, Alberta, 1887-1899, then Calgary, Alberta, 1899-1909. He helped organize the Calgary Horticultural Society, was president of the Children's Aid Society, and a director of the YMCA. He and his wife, Isabella Slater, ?-1890, had a number of children, including D'Archy Boulton Niblock, 1875-?. The latter was born in Point Edward, Ontario and began work for the CPR at a young age. In 1906 he entered the real estate business in Calgary with George F. Tull. He served in the 50th Battalion in the First World War. He later moved to Toronto. D'Archy married Mabel M. Newsome in 1897 and they had three children, Kathleen, John N. and Norma.
