        Frederick A. R. Mountain, ca. 1860-?, was born near Dover, England and joined the North-West Mounted Police (NWMP) at Fort Walsh, Saskatchewan in 1878. He served one term of three years with the Mounties, then in 1881 homesteaded near Medicine Hat, Alberta. About 1890 he moved to Kootenay Lake in the British Columbia interior, and a short while later to Victoria. About 1904 Mountain moved briefly to Montreal, then returned to Buckinghamshire in England.
