Biographical history
In 1888 Rennie Burford Barnes, 1853-1927, who had apprenticed as a pharmacist in Sandgate, England, moved to Fort Macleod, Alberta, where he purchased the Higinbotham Pharmacy. He renamed it the Medical Hall Pharmacy. Barnes married Sarah Isabelle Martin in 1890 and they had two children. He was a member of the Fort Macleod town council for ten years. In 1911 Barnes was joined by R.D. McNay who eventually took over the business, which was renamed McNay Pharmacy.
