History
Mildred Itasca Hall, ca. 1898-1974, was born in the USA, grew up in Olds, Alberta and attended the University of Alberta between 1917 and 1921. She moved to Yellowknife, NWT as the first public teacher in the community and in 1941 married prospector/publisher John Murray "Jock" McMeekan, ca. 1900-1963. They moved to Uranium City, Saskatchewan in 1953 where she continued teaching. She later taught in a number of rural Alberta schools before her retirement to Victoria in 1968. She and Jock had one daughter, Helen Hall (Henderson).
