        Charles H. "Charlie" McKinnon, 1897-[after 1971], was educated at Western Canada College in Calgary, Alberta and attended the Olds School of Agriculture in 1914. He began farming at Dalemead and ran stock in the Bassano area. After ca. 1921 he and his brothers ran the family corporation called L.K. Ranch and Farming Company, later renamed L.K. Ranches Limited, which bred horses and cows. He married in 1921 and had two sons, Neil and Jim, and two daughters. The family lived at Dalemead until 1949 and then moved to Calgary. In 1976 he was inducted into the Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame and in 1979 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Calgary.
