History
James McCullough, 1889-1973, was born in County Armagh, Northern Ireland, and came to Calgary, Alberta in 1914. In 1921 he started McCullough Brothers, a dry good store, at 226-8th Avenue SW. Edith Mary Boyd, ?-1967, also from Northern Ireland, arrived in 1922 to marry him. They had three children, George, Thomas and Edith (Drysdale). In 1929 the business was renamed McCullough's Silk Shop. On James' death, his sons took over the business, which had grown to two stores.
