History
Katie McCrimmon Love was one of the founders of the Canadian Girls in Training program, motivated by her earlier work in the YWCA and teaching at summer schools around Alberta. Her husband, Russell Love, was well-known for his role as provincial treasurer for the United Farms of Alberta government in 1934. Love became the first woman and first alumna appointed to the university Senate for the University of Alberta; earlier, as a student, she had also been the first woman president of the student's union. Love died three weeks after giving birth to the last of her three daughters.
