        History

        James McCool, 1862-1911, was born near Clinton, Ontario and in 1879 moved to Manitoba. He married Lavina McGhee, ?-1938, in 1886 and in 1897 they moved to Ontario. In 1902 the family moved west again and established themselves in Crossfield, Alberta. While operating a farm James also started a store which he ran for a few years. The McCools had eight children, James Albert Johnson "Mac", Lula Dell (Sackett), Robert Milton, William Harvey, Marguerita (Hall), Walter Douglas "Jim", Alberta (Wilson) and Olive Lavina "Polly" (Nichol). R. Milton, 1893-1988, was very active in the United Farmers of Alberta (UFA) and from 1926 to 1935 was Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Cochrane constituency.
