        History

        Hector McArthur, 1897-[after 1976], was born in Ontario and in 1901 moved to Alberta with his parents, John and Margaret McArthur. The family homesteaded at Milnerton near Innisfail. Hector graduated in agriculture from the University of Alberta in 1921. After several years of teaching at the Gleichen and Claresholm Schools of Agriculture, he moved to British Columbia where he worked for the Board of Grain Commissioners for 33 years. In 1927 he married Elizabeth Lee Whyte and they had two sons, John Hector and Kenneth Whyte.
