Biographical history
Margaret Isabel Jackson, 1904-1980, was born in Middlesborough, England and came to Calgary in 1912. She obtained her BSc from the University of Alberta in 1940 and her BEd in 1950. She taught for 47 years in Calgary and rural schools. She taught at the University of Calgary from 1965 until her retirement in 1970. In 1964 she was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Alberta in Calgary. She was active in the NDP and ran, unsuccessfully, in both provincial and federal elections.
