History
Nelson Malm, 1905-1989, was born in Huron, South Dakota, USA. His family moved to Vauxhall, Alberta in 1923 and he began farming there in 1926, developing an 1800 acre (720 hectare) grain and livestock operation. He was active in several community and agricultural organizations. He was elected a director of the Alberta Wheat Pool in 1953, and served as its first vice-president from 1960 to 1971. He was president of the Alberta Federation of Agriculture from 1964 to 1970, and an executive member of the Canadian Federation of Agriculture. He and his wife, Violet May, ?-1998, retired to Calgary in 1971. He was appointed to the Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame in 1973.
