History
Philip "Curley" MacPherson, 1879-1970, was born at Cape North, Nova Scotia. In 1903 he homesteaded near Nanton, Alberta. In 1913 he married Ethel Allan, ?-1974, of Roxbury, Massachusetts, USA. They had five children, Flora (Howe), Vermina (Fleming), Helen, Philip and Gordon. He bought a Rumely Oilpull steam engine in 1911 and for many years ran a threshing outfit in partnership with John McKinnon. He was a charter member of the Nanton curling club and the Alberta Wheat Pool and was active on the school board. He retired to Nanton ca. 1953.
