John F. MacMaster came to Calgary, Alberta in the mid-1960s and worked as an engineer for G.R. Bates and Associates. In the mid-1970s he formed his own firm, John F. MacMaster Engineering. He designed and built natural gas plants in several places in Alberta. His wife's name was Wilma.
