History
Daniel and George MacLeod were born in Prince Edward Island. They opened a men's clothing store in Calgary, Alberta at 1st Street SE in Calgary in 1902. When Daniel MacLeod, ?-1925, died he was succeeded by Elizabeth Ann Passmore, 1873-1968. In 1954 the business was purchased by Claude Trewhitt, 1900-1989, and in the 1960s and 1970s he expanded to the Chinook, Westbrook, Market, Southcentre, Sunridge and TD Square Malls. In 1980 the downtown location was sold to the City of Calgary and the offices and warehouse were moved to 4014 Macleod Trail. For many years the business operated a mail order deparment as well. The stores were closed in 2011.
