        History

        Rev. Dr. Robert H. MacKinnon, 1886-1982, was born in East Lake, Ainsley, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia and was educated at Queen's University. In 1916 he moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta as minister of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. In 1926 he became minister of the St. Andrews United Church in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. He was minister at the Burdett and Bow Island, Alberta United Churches from 1929 to 1934, and subsequently at Trinity United Church in Calgary. In 1944 he became minister of Canmore United Church in Canmore, and Minister of Visitation in Calgary in 1954. He retired in 1974. He and his wife, Dorothy J., 1894-1970, had four children, Robert, James, George, and Edith (Holt).
