Biographical history
Lorne James Sampson, 1895-1933, was born in Saskatchewan, the son of William S. Sampson. He joined the Royal North-West Mounted Police (RNWMP) in 1914, served overseas in the First World War and worked in criminal investigations in Vancouver from 1919 until 1932. He briefly served in the Regina depot, was promoted to inspector and was transferred to Saskatoon in charge of the northern training squad. He was killed in a clash with the unemployed in Saskatoon. He and his wife had two children, Douglas, 1922- , and Pamela, 1926- .
