Biographical history
Loretta Shantz, [1912 or 1913 -after 1989], was born near Sibbald, Alberta, the daughter of Burton and Katie Shantz, 1890-1995. She was an instructress at the School for Nursing Aides in Calgary from 1946 to 1950, under director J. Frances Ferguson (Sutherland). The school was started in 1946 by Canadian Vocational Training and the Department of Public Health. In 1952 the school, which had graduated 1000 students, moved to a new location at 1315-16th Avenue NW. Loretta subsequently married Mr. Baillie. In 1970 she was living in Hawaii and in 1989 once more resided in Calgary.
