Biographical history

Lois Pamela Turbayne, 1907-1990, was born in Toronto, Ontario. The Turbayne family moved to Vancouver, British Columbia and from there to Calgary, Alberta in 1916. Lois Turbayne attended Garbutt Business College, 1925-1926. As early as 1942, she was an office clerk for the Government of Canada, and she continued in this capacity until her retirement in 1969. When her father, Edgar Turbayne, died in 1946, she supported her mother, Martha Louise Turbayne, until the latter's death in 1967. Her brother, Kenneth Ray Turbayne, was a gun smith in the Second World War.

The fonds consists of certificates, tax returns, household account books, music programs and recipes (1910-1988); Martha Turbayne's account book (1901-1913); valentines (1880s); scrapbook of newsclippings about the family (1900-1920s); articles on Albert Angus Turbayne, bookbinder (1902); and photographs of the family, an army group in Wetaskiwin, and the Calgary Revolver Club (1880s-1940s).
