History
John Lipkowsky, 1897-1976, was born in Russia and came to Canada in the 1910s. He studied at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in Calgary in the late 1920s and again in 1941. In 1929 he married Olga Mooren, 1910-1986, who was also Russian-born. They had two daughters, Margaret (Shore) and Violet (Shore). Olga was a seamstress at the Calgary General Hospital. John was a machinist at the Canadian Pacific Railway's (CPR) Ogden shops from 1939 until his retirement in 1964. He was an active member of the International Association of Machinists.
