Biographical history
Lily Phan, 1977- , was born in Hanoi, Vietnam. Her family were political refugees, and she arrived in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1982. She studied at York University, and moved to Calgary, Alberta in 2002. Her experience as a refugee led to a strong commitment to social justice activism. She was involved in several radical political organizations, and took leadership roles in the Activista Social Club, Calgary Coalition against War and Occupation, and MAYworks Festival of Community Solidarity and Culture.
