Biographical history
Lewis L. Osborne completed his PhD at the University of Calgary in 1981. He worked at the Illinois Natural History Survey, a research institution located on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from ca. 1987-1993. He was also a professor in the university's Department of Urban and Regional Planning prior to 1987.

Fonds consist of PhD research conducted by Lewis Osborne while a student at the University of Calgary. He studied and sampled material from the Benthic layer (riverbed) of the Sheep River around Taber, Alberta. The result of his findings were the basis of his dissertation, entitled "The effects of chlorine on the benthic communities of the Sheep River, Alberta", 1981.
