Biographical history
Irene Leda Jensen, 1924-1990, was born in Standard, Alberta, the daughter of Mourids and Ellen Jensen. She married Svend Jensen and they had three children, Delores, Phyllis and Earl. The Jensens ran a successful cattle and grain operation at Hussar. Leda was very active in rural women's organizations. In 1966 she was elected a director of the Farm Women's Union of Alberta, and in the late 1970s and early 1980s served as president of FWUA's successor, Women of Unifarm. She was particularly interested in topics of importance to the family unit, including stress in the farm family. Internationally, she was active in the Associated Country Women of the World, and was on the planning committee for the 1983 ACWW conference in Vancouver. She was inducated into the Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame in 1990.
