      Edward E. Lawrence ran a livery stable in Hussar, Alberta as early as 1921. In 1925 he worked on a road crew between Ponoka and Menaik, Alberta as a sub-contractor to T.W. Griffin who held the provincial government contract to gravel the road. He returned to Hussar and ran the livery stable until at least 1929.
