Biographical history

Lalovee Rogers Jensen, 1907-1985, was born in Magrath, Alberta. He did his Mormon mission in Texas, USA, 1926-1929, then studied animal science at Brigham Young University in Utah, USA. In 1932 he married Lasca Caldwell Lee, and they had four children, Joanne (Bullock), Sylvia (Bullock), Lasca (Duce) and Christian. Jensen purchased an interest in his father's ranch in 1935, and developed this into Happy Valley Farms. Located west of Magrath, the farm produced grain, sugar beets and livestock, and became one of Canada's biggest producers of registered sheep.

In 1949 the Jensen family was honoured as one of Alberta's Master Farm Families. Jensen was president of the Alberta Sugar Beet Growers' Association, 1954-1975, and served on the executive of the Southern Alberta Sheep Breeders Association for more than 45 years. In 1974 he was inducted into the Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame. When he died in a farm accident his son, Chris, took over the farm operations.
