History
Richard Knights, 1862-1953, was born in England and worked for the British Colonial Office. In 1891 he married Annie Mary Bright, 1865-1965, and they had nine children, Charles Richard, 1891-1917, Anthony, Mary Ellen (Gush), 1897-?, Richard, 1895-?, Arthur, Kathleen (Welch), 1899-?, Edith (Pallister), Freda (McArthur), 1900-1994, and Margaret (Barker). He moved to Alberta in 1908 and established the Massingham Ranche near Millarville. The family joined him in 1909. He ranched until 1928 when he retired to Calgary. In 1945 he moved to Black Diamond, Alberta.
