History
Klean Sweep Brushes was formed in Calgary, Alberta, in 1932. It manufactured and sold various types of brushes and brooms and also sold related products such as mops and squeegees for household, commercial, industrial, and sporting purposes. The business was originally a partnership of A. E. Macartney and Ray Ferster, and was incorporated in 1955 as Klean Sweep Brush Mfrs. Ltd. under the majority ownership of Ferster. In 1959 the business was acquired by the Helmer Chemical Company Limited and in 1962 it was purchased by Elmer and Ruth Brown. It became inactive around 1975, and the Browns transferred the proceeds of the business to their holding company, Gabriola Holdings Ltd.
