History
Gloria Klaver, 1929-1982, was born in Strathmore, Alberta and later moved to Calgary with her family, where they operated a gas station called Renown Oils. Gloria was a proficient horse-back rider and became Calgary Stampede Queen in 1948. She continued to compete in horse shows into the 1950s while working as a bookkeeper in Calgary. She later moved to Brooks and married Hank Charlton. Gloria was also active with the Stampede Queen alumni.
