      Jose "Joe" Bun Kee Khu ,1920-2012, was born in Manila, Philippines. He was educated at De La Salle College in Manila. From 1940 to 1946 he studied Chinese and Western philosophy at the University of Nanking after which he returned to operate a business in Manila. Joe and his wife Josette moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1973 with their seven children, Cecilia, Elena, Agnes, Thomas, Josephine, David and Peter. He was active in many organizations including the Sino-Canada Culture Association, Calgary Chinese School (Mandarin), Calgary Chinese Committee for Alberta's 75th Anniversary Celebration, Alberta Cultural Heritage Council, Chinese Canadian National Council (Calgary Chapter), United Calgary Chinese Association, Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre Association, Alberta-China Liaison Committee, and National Congress of Chinese Canadians.
