      Huntley Douglas Brodie Ketchen, 1872-1959, was born in India, the son of a British military officer. He married Margaret Elizabeth Robinson in 1895 and they had three sons, Alastair, Ian and Sotheby. He began his long military career in the Imperial Army, 1890-1893. He subsequently served in the North-West Mounted Police (NWMP), 1894-1900, then fought in the South African War. He moved to Winnipeg in 1901 as staff adjutant for Military District No. 10 and rose to Officer Commanding in 1919. He retired in 1928. During First World War he commanded the 6th Canadian Infantry Brigade. He sat as a Conservative member of the Manitoba Legislature, 1932-1945. Ketchen, Saskatchewan and Ketchen Avenue in Calgary are named after Brigadier-General Ketchen.
