        Don Lorin Kepler, 1908-2003, was born in Dayton, Ohio and later moved to Calgary, Alberta. He trained as a pilot with Great Western Airways but also operated a radio shop in Calgary during the 1930s. After the Second World War, he established Kepler Aviation before moving to Portland, Oregon in 1952. Kepler was active with the Kiwanis Club, Probus Club and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association in Calgary. He was also a ham radio operator. He and his wife Mary "Maisie" McFarlane, 1913-2005, were married in 1932 and had two children, Don Jr, 1933- , and Marlene J. (Starr), 1936- . He worked for Tektronix in Portland.
