Biographical history

Kenneth Dutton was born in England in 1923. During the Second World War, he came to Canada to train under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. He was on the Number 59 Course at the No.36 Elementary Flight Training School, Pearce Airport, Alberta. Flying Officer Kenneth Dutton was killed in Italy before the war ended and his name is on The Royal Air Forces Memorial, Malta which was unveiled in 1954.

Archival history

The two photograph albums and additional material were in the custody of Kenneth Dutton’s cousin David Dutton, who donated them on behalf of Pauline Taylor.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of two photograph albums containing photographs taken primarily by Kenneth Dutton during his time in Canada training in the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. The photographs document his journey to Alberta, his life and air training at Pearce Airport, and recreational outings to various places in Alberta. Also includes additional photographs of groups in the training program (1941-1943); and a booklet commemorating the Royal Air Force's Memorial Malta, G.C., unveiled by Queen Elizabeth (1954).
