Biographical history

Joseph Paul Marcotte, 1861-?, was born in Quebec and moved to Saskatchewan in the 1890s, establishing a ranch near the future town of Prud'homme in 1897 and then moving to Hudson Bay Junction, of which he was the mayor for a term. Over the years he owned several hotels in Saskatchewan, at Hudson Bay Junction, Warman, Vonda and Fielding.

Marcotte married Anielka "Amela" Bilinska and they had ten children, Garvet, 1901-?, Lilly (Baril), 1903-?, Laura (Turnbull), 1905? , Blanche (Hosheit), 1907-?, Josephine (Lafreniere), 1909-1963, Edmond, 1911-?, Violette (McCullough), 1914-1965, Joseph Clarence, 1916- , Alcide, 1920- , and Isabelle (Helgren), 1923- .
