      Warren Leslie "Les" Johnson, ca. 1880-1945, was born in Bruce County, Ontario but grew up near Brandon, Manitoba. He served in the South African Constabulary during the South African War. On his return he worked on the Whitney Ranch on the Bow River near Bow Island, Alberta. Here he met Harriet Reddick and they were married in 1907. They homesteaded near Enchant, Alberta where their six children were born, Marion (York), Mildred (Byrne), Melvin, Edna (Kurtz), Allen and Everest. In 1926 Les and Harriet moved near Picture Butte, Alberta.
