Biographical history
John William Gregg, ?-1985, was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta and educated in Bassano and Calgary. He took advanced training in petroleum engineering at the University of Alberta and the University of California at Berkeley. In 1949 he joined the University of Alberta as professor of petroleum engineering. Soon after he moved to Calgary and was employed with New Superior Oils, Lewis Engineering, and Reid, Crowther and Partners. At the time of his death he was president of Gregg Petroleum Consultants Ltd. He and his wife, Margery, had six sons, William, Robert, David, Brian, Alan, and Stephen.
